The Silver Sword Review

Image
The Silver Sword  is written by Angela Elwell Hunt and can fall into the categories of Christian, romance, and historical fiction. It is the first novel in the Heirs of Cahira O'Connor series. " The auburned-haired O'Connor women share a bond far deeper than their striking physical appearance. These courageous, high-spirited women all push against societal limits in this exciting historical, romantic novel that spans generations and countries from 13th-century Ireland to the excitement and mystery of 15th-century Prague. It is said that as Cahira, daughter of the great Irish king Rory O'Connor, lay dying of a wound from a Norman blade, she beseeched God that others would follow her calling. To Kathleen O'Connor, Cahira's story was nothing more than a fable--until research divulged that the tale was true. As a stunned Kathleen realizes that she herself bears the mark of Cahira, she wonders if she is destined to continue the legacy. To uncover the answers, K

Liebster Awards 2016

Image
I was nominated by Eve from  Tea, Chocolate and Books  for the Liebster 2016 award.  Her Questions Answered: 1. Have you read any Shakespeare? And if so, what is your favorite? I've read most of Julius Caesar and am currently reading Comedy of Errors. My favorite was Julius Caesar because I like that time period. I have watched a good rendition of Romeo and Juliet. 2. The best book you've read in the last twelve months? I've read so many good ones; this is a tough decision. Probably either The Sword of Summer by Rick Riordan or Game of Lives by James Dashner. 3. Do you have a reading playlist you listen to whilst reading? Nope, I find it difficult to read while listening to music. It can be done, I just choose not to. 4. Do you drink coffee or tea whilst you're reading, and if not, why? Another no. I don't drink anything while reading and I've never taken a liking to tea or coffee. 5.  Where's your go-to reading place?

Game of Lives Review

Image
Game of Lives is the third and final installment in the Mortality Doctrine series written by James Dashner. The first two books are titles Eye of Minds and Rule of Thoughts . The genre is sci-fi. " Michael used to live to game. Now the games he was playing have become all too real. Only weeks ago, Sinking into the Sleep was fun. The VirtNet combined the most cutting-edge technology and the most sophisticated gaming for a full mind-body experience. And it was Michael’s passion. But now every time Michael Sinks, he risks his life. The games are over. The VirtNet has become a world of deadly consequences, and Kaine grows stronger by the day. The Mortality Doctrine—Kaine’s master plan—has nearly been realized, and little by little the line separating the virtual from the real is blurring. If Kaine succeeds, it will mean worldwide cyber domination. And it looks like Michael and his friends are the only ones who can put the monster back in the box— if Michael can figure out who his

"Would You Rather" Book Tag

I came across this tag on Goodreads and thought it would be fun to give it a go, especially since I like watching them on Youtube. So here goes nothing! 1. Rather read only a series or stand-alone books? I like stand-alone books. The story is over and you can move on (not from the feels though). In a series you get more adventures and more of the characters. I'm going to have to go with series. 2. Rather read a book whose main character is male or female? Female. I do like reading from both genders, but I'm a girl and I like to be able to connect to main characters. If I can't do that in any way I'm probably going to have to push myself to finish the book. 3. Rather shop only at Barnes & Noble (or any other bookstore) or Amazon? The physical bookstore, definitely! As good as deals that Amazon provides, nothing beats walking into a store and being surrounded by books. 4. Rather all books become movies or TV show? This is a tough one. Some movie adaptation

After Impact Review

Image
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. The release date isn't until April 2016.  After Impact is the first book in the series written by Nicole Stark. The genre is dystopian. " At first, HOPE (Humanity's One Plan for Escape) habitat appears to be a well-oiled machine, preparing 5,000 carefully chosen inhabitants for a new Earth. However, a medical assistant named Ilium reveals that certain members of the habitat have been falling ill from a mysterious virus they were inoculated against. Soon, HOPE habitat's tranquil illusion is shattered as Avalon plays a perplexing message left by her father. If Avalon is to survive this dangerous new environment , she will have to find the strength to navigate a habitat enveloped in secrets. "~Goodreads Stark's writing pulled me in from the very beginning. The mysteries started happening almost immediately. The main characters aren't oblivious to the fact that  suspicious activity is
