Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Review
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne, and John Tiffany and is the eighth book in the Harry Potter series. The genre is fantasy.
"Based on an original new story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, a new play by Jack Thorne, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is the eighth story in the Harry Potter series and the first official Harry Potter story to be presented on stage. The play will receive its world premiere in London’s West End on July 30, 2016.
It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children. While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places."~Goodreads
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is probably my favorite book of the year. I devoured it in a couple hours or something similar. I want to go read it again, though I know I shouldn't. I also would like to see the play just to keep reliving the magic. Even though it's in script format it was still easy to read like a normal book. Either you quickly glance at the names on the side or ignore them if there's only two people.
The plot was so mind-blowing and very intricate; I was sitting at the edge of my seat the whole time. There was something they did with the time that I really like. I remember hoping really hard that there wouldn't be a cliffhanger, since that would mean another year of waiting. But no worries, we're good. I was also expecting the book to be much bigger, I don't know why. When we were standing in line for the release and the workers first started pulling the books out I remember thinking that along with that it wouldn't take as long to read. I liked seeing how the characters grew and changed, especially the ones from the first seven books. Scorpius is most likely one of my favorite characters and I'm already shipping him with someone (is it to early for that?).
Honestly, I have so many excellent things the say about the Cursed Child, I don't even know how to put it into words. There's also some things I can't say because they're slight spoilers, and nobody likes those.
